When the waves crash into me
I think of you
And how
Things used to be
Can’t escape
These thoughts of you
They weigh me down
Wear me out
Drowning me
In a sea
Of my own tears

Do you still care
About me
I know
Things did not turn out
The way you
Wanted them to be
But I’m still here
Fighting
Falling
Forever
In love with you
And I’m scared
Cause I know
I’m going to lose you
And I can’t
Lose you now

And I’m
Running against the tide
It’s pulling you in
Away from me
There goes my heart
My hopes
My dreams

With these hands
I’ll take you back
Pull you to shore
Kiss you
Back to life
In the white sand

Chasing fireflies

The wind at my back
The sun
Shining in your eyes

Can we have some truth
For a change
A little transparency
Honesty
Conviction

Is it too much to ask?

Stop lying
To yourself
Come clean
If you cannot be
True
To yourself
How can you expect others
To be honest
With you?

I’m not asking you
To set yourself free
You’re free to choose
On your own accord
But what I need
Is for you
To choose the right thing
Now

I’m not asking you
To smooth things over
Make me feel better
I’m not asking
For your time
Your money
Your love
Nor tears

All I’m asking
Is for you to listen
To yourself
Give it some thought
Then get back on track
And surge forward

Is this really too much to ask?

There’s no sense
In dragging this out
Any longer
Another year
Misguided
Misdirected
Unchallenged
Unhappy
Off course

The key of truth
Lies within
Yet you ignore it
A thousand times over
Disregarded
As if
It were never there

Take it in your hands
